Bing Yang

University of Missouri, USA

Bing Yang currently works at the University of Missouri - Columbia, previously at Iowa State University (2007-2018). His lab is working on 1) development and application of TALEN and CRISPR technologies for targeted genome editing in plant species such as rice, maize, wheat, sorghum, soybean, and 2) molecular mechanism of plant/microbe interactions and crop disease resistance engineering by using the bacterial blight of rice as a model.

Education
BA, Agriculture, South West Forestry University, China
MS, Agriculture, South West Forestry University, China
PhD, Plant Pathology, Kansas State University

Description
The research of the Yang lab mainly focuses on 1) gaining a molecular understanding of host disease susceptibility and resistance to pathogenic microbes by using bacterial blight of rice as a disease model, and 2) developing and applying genome editing technologies for gene/trait discovery and for engineering improved traits such as disease resistance in crop plants.
